Vikki Jones, built for the rooms she's in

How we took Vikki Jones from a single Canva page to a site in six languages for a global media executive.

Vikki Jones is an author, a publisher, and the founder and CEO of VMH Media. Her work takes her from book launches to technology stages to professional sports, in rooms all over the world. Her website needed to keep up with her.

Where it started

Her old site was one long page built in Canva. It opened with her photo and a long bio under her name and tagline, "Elevating Voices. Expanding Vision." Next came a navy banner with a button to apply for a discovery call, then her books, a long run of covers, each with its own Buy Now button. It had a lot of her in it, but it was one page in one language, and every change meant opening the design tool and moving boxes around.

First, a real home

In May we rebuilt it as a real website, written from scratch so it could grow with her. We kept her tagline, because it was already hers, and built the page around her books, with a cream and gold look that felt like a well made hardcover. Every book got a real home with a link to buy it, and the contact form went straight to her inbox.

Six languages, not one

Vikki's audience isn't only in one country, so the site speaks Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, French, and Arabic too. These are full versions of the site, not a translate button. Arabic reads right to left, so the whole layout flips, from the menu to the portrait to the order of the buttons. When her book Align came out in Chinese, it had a real place to land.

  • The Arabic homepage: the headline in Arabic on the right, the portrait on the left, the whole layout mirrored.
  • The Chinese homepage: the headline in Chinese in white and gold beside the portrait.

Room for the rest of her work

Vikki's work doesn't fit on one page, so the pieces that needed space got their own. Her bag collection started because she couldn't find a bag that matched the rooms she works in, so she designed her own. It got a dark, editorial page called Carry the Room. Made to Love, her social and emotional learning program for young kids, got a soft, bright page of its own, with the book, the Payton doll, and the toolkit that goes with them.

  • The Made to Love page: three smiling girls holding Payton dolls, beside Empowering Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood.

A new opening

By September, Vikki's work had grown well past the books. She was reporting from tech launches, working with professional sports, and leading conversations at global conferences. So the homepage changed to lead with that. It opens in black and gold now: "Media authority built across global rooms." Right under it, the work is laid out by the rooms she's in: technology, sports, global leadership, and publishing. The books are all still there, just a little further down.

Then we stayed

The site has changed 205 times since May, and it's still changing: new engagements, new books, new links as her work moves. That's the point. A site for someone like Vikki is never finished, so we keep it moving with her.
